What is a DC gear motor ?

DC gear motor, (also named DC geared motor, DC gearmotor) is a DC motor equipped with gearbox.

Function of the gearbox is to improve a lower speed and higher torque. Gearboxes with different reduction ratios provide different speeds and torque.
